Sustainability
EIS is committed, both as an educational institution and as a community, to building a sustainable ecosystem that integrates the environmental, individual and social dimensions. Sustainability is understood as a cross-cutting educational value, one that guides the entire educational project and accompanies students throughout their growth, helping them become conscious, responsible citizens who are attentive to the world they live in.
The campus thus becomes a space for active learning, where students experience sustainable practices in their daily lives and develop a conscious relationship with the environment, with people, and with the community. Sustainability is lived out in the school’s everyday life and is woven into the curriculum through several disciplines, including science, civic education, art and sport, fostering learning that is concrete, experiential and interdisciplinary.
Environmental Sustainability
Environmental education is a fundamental pillar of the EIS educational journey. Through the school garden and environmental and civic education projects, students learn about natural cycles and about respect and care for the environment, while at the same time developing a sense of responsibility, collaboration and awareness.
Wellbeing and Health in Sustainability
Sustainability is also expressed through the promotion of a healthy lifestyle that integrates movement, wellbeing and a relationship with the environment. EIS recognises physical and emotional wellbeing as essential elements of educational sustainability.
Sports activities are designed as opportunities for physical, relational and social growth, and take place, whenever possible, outdoors and in contact with nature, strengthening the bond with the local area and building greater awareness of one’s own body within a natural setting. Sport thus becomes an educational tool for nurturing health, sociability, respect for rules and collaboration.
Great attention is also given to healthy, balanced nutrition. The menu at the canteen and the beach kiosk is designed to be varied and balanced, with particular care given to choosing seasonal and, where possible, local ingredients, promoting good eating habits and a culture of wellbeing that unites individual health with respect for the environment.
Social Sustainability and Ties to the Local Area
The school is, first and foremost, an educational community built on positive relationships, inclusion and mutual respect. Extracurricular activities, whether artistic, sporting or cultural, contribute to students’ well-rounded development and to building meaningful bonds between students, families and teachers.
Events, weekend activities, gatherings and communal dinners strengthen a sense of belonging and foster a welcoming, participatory and inclusive atmosphere, in which everyone feels like an active part of school life.
EIS also recognises the value of the local area in which it operates and is committed to building an active, responsible relationship with the local community. The school supports the needs of the surrounding area, positions itself as a hub of educational innovation, and opens its initiatives to the community, encouraging exchange, collaboration and shared growth.
